Slow Life in Sardinia
These days, there's a lot of media buzz around longevity and prolonging one's life through healthy eating habits and, well, slowing down.
In October of 2023, Modio Media's Beppe Mangione packed his audio gear and headed to Sardinia for a new PBS show that frames up longevity in Sardinia. The island, celebrated for its pristine coastline, millennial history molded by a succession of foreign conquerors, is one of the world's five officially recognized longevity hot spots — known as blue zones — profiled in Living Longer, Living Well: Secrets of the Mediterranean that delves into the why the island has more centenarians than anywhere else ion the planet. The special, which recently premiered on South Florida PBS and features researchers, food producers, and longevity gurus reveals secrets of the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle (other featured locations include Greece and Tuscany's hinterland) and why it's become a global benchmark for healthy living. Living Longer hits public television stations across the U.S. later this year.
