In collaboration with ElePHAS, a non-profit cultural association based in Montevarchi, Modio Media produced a series of videos for a long-time-coming exhibition on shoe manufacturing in the Valdarno located southeast of Florence. This is where nearly every major brand has produced shoes from Gucci to Ferragamo to Valentino to Prada (still, a major employer here) Nearly a year in the making and held in an 15th century building in the city's historical center, the exhibit encompassed large-format ads from trade publications , a range of tools and shoe forms found in workshops and two dedicated rooms featuring Modio Media's videos documenting each phase of the shoemaking process and clips from interviews with former and current employees of the shoe industry. The hugely successful show garnered thousands of visitors and the city is hoping to find a location to house a permanent exhibit. With the fashion industry in crisis and overseas competition posing a threat because of lower production costs made the moment that much more poignant.
